Build Digital Confidence Through Everyday Practice

Digital learning does not have to begin with mastering every feature on a device. It can begin with a task that matters to you: sending a message, joining a video call, finding a document, or understanding an online form.

Wyoming Path & Purpose Foundation’s developing Digital Skills and Literacy program focuses on practical technology use, accessible instruction, communication, and internet safety. Our first workshops are still being organized. These ideas can help you describe your learning interests and prepare for a future learning opportunity.

Choose one useful task

Think about an activity you want technology to help you complete. “Learn computers” is a large goal. “Find an email and reply to it” gives you a clearer place to start.

If you use a smartphone, tablet, or computer, make a note of which device you want to practice with. Menus and steps can differ, so the device matters when asking for help.

Practice with examples

Create a short practice message or use a made-up example when learning how a form works. Avoid using passwords, payment information, medical records, or identity documents as practice material.

You can ask an instructor to demonstrate a step, let you try it, and then explain it again in a different way. Learning may be easier with written instructions, larger text, a quieter setting, or extra practice time.

Make your own reference

After a useful practice session, keep a short checklist in a format you can use. It might say: open the app, find the message, choose reply, review the recipient, and send. Include only the steps relevant to your task.

Do not put passwords or verification codes in a shared worksheet or message to an instructor. If a task involves private account information, ask how it can be demonstrated without sharing that information.

Name the next question

A good next step may be a question: How do I attach a document? How do I change the text size? How can I tell whether a message needs closer review? Specific questions help an instructor understand your goal.

Help shape a Wyoming workshop

The Foundation welcomes digital learning interests from individuals and groups. Workshop dates, instructors, locations, and participation details will be announced only when arrangements are confirmed.
